Hyaluronic acid is a humectant that naturally occurs in the skin and binds to water. The different forms include low, medium and high molecular weight molecules, an HA crosspolymer and hydrolyzed HA. The formulation also contains ceramides to help lock in moisture. Ceramides are lipids (fat molecules) that naturally occur in the skin and help support the skin barrier to keep the skin protected and hydrated. The ceramides used in this formula are called sphingolipids. Provitamin B5 helps support the formation of important components of the skin barrier, such as ceramides and fatty acids, which further helps lock in moisture and keep the skin hydrated for longer.
